ZOE CUNLIFFE
PROGRAM LEAD BUILT ENVIRONMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
Zoe Cunliffe serves as an Environmental Justice Program Coordinator at Black Women for Wellness, with a focus on the Built Environment. She works to address the disproportionate health burdens borne by Black women and girls, as caused by pollution and toxic chemicals from human-made surroundings in South LA.
Zoe holds a Philosophy BA from the University of Cambridge, UK, and a Philosophy PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center, NYC. Her PhD specialized in feminist philosophy and social justice. During graduate school she volunteered to teach incarcerated women in prisons, participated in programs serving high schoolers at under-resourced schools, and organized events to elevate the voices of women and people of color.
For 6 years, Zoe was a Research Consultant on a water sustainability project with the University of British Columbia, working closely with indigenous groups and applying feminist frameworks to mainstream water management approaches.
In her free time, Zoe enjoys hiking, reading, pottery, trying new foods, and spending time with family and friends.
