Black Women for Wellness (BWW) hosted a powerful lineup of events in celebration of Black Maternal Health Week 2026 (April 11–17) – a national initiative dedicated to raising awareness and advancing solutions to address Black maternal and infant health disparities.

This year’s theme, “Rooted in Justice & Joy,” is grounded in the belief that Black mothers deserve more than survival.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW), led by Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA), and represents a decade of collective advocacy toward a future where all Black mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive.

Rooted in the Womb

Thursday, April 16, 2026 | 4 PM – 6 PM

Black Mama’s Week programming also featured “Rooted in the Womb,” a healing movement experience inspired by Congolese belly dancing traditions.

Through guided, rhythmic, womb-centered movement, participants deepened their connection to their bodies while supporting core strength, pelvic mobility, circulation, and energetic release.

This offering nurtured womb awareness while cultivating joy, rhythm, and collective care within a supportive community of mothers and birthing people.
