Fierce Aunties Advocate for Maternal Healthcare in New Citywide Billboard Campaign
LOS ANGELES, CA — Black Women for Wellness (BWW) is proud to announce the launch of its latest billboard and bus shelter campaign for Black Maternal Health Week 2025, amplifying the voices of our Fierce Aunties as champions for maternal healthcare and trusted pregnancy education.
The billboard campaign features striking visuals of BWW’s Fierce Aunties — community leaders, caregivers, and advocates — who are boldly stepping into the spotlight to demand what every Black mother and birthing person deserves: dignity, respect, and access to full-spectrum reproductive care. These messages now live across Los Angeles, from Crenshaw to Culver City, Harbor City to Bellflower.
“These billboards are more than just bold visuals — they’re a call to action,”
said Tyla Adams, who serves as the Program Manager for the Sisters In Control Reproductive Justice program at Black Women for Wellness. “When you see one of our Aunties on a billboard or bus shelter, we hope it prompts you to reflect, spark a conversation, and share the message. This campaign is about creating space to honor and protect Black mothers, demanding dignity in our care, and making it undeniably clear: our stories, our lives, and our leadership should be centered — in our communities, every healthcare facility, and every policy decision.”

Launched in partnership with Essential Access Health, this campaign reaffirms that Black birthing people deserve access to the full spectrum of reproductive and sexual health care — including abortion, prenatal care, birth education, and postpartum support — free from shame, coercion, or barriers based on income or zip code.

Black Maternal Health Week 2025
Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) is a national week dedicated to raising awareness and advocating for solutions to Black maternal and infant health disparities. The purpose of #BMHW25 is to highlight efforts led by @BlackMamasMatterAlliance (BMMA) and collectively work toward a future where all Black Mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during, and after pregnancy.
