Job Description:

Position: Finance Director

Reports To: Deputy Executive Director

Program: Administration

Work Schedule: 40 hrs./week (Monday – Friday)
Some nights & weekends as needed

Travel Required: Yes

Expected Hours: 40 hrs

Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $62,000. -$84,000.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Assist in ensuring fiscal soundness of the organization.
  • Assist in program and organizational fundraising (Grants, Sponsorships, Fee-for-Service, Special Events).
  • Provide program management and oversight as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop program, project, and organizational budgets with assistance from key personnel.
  • Reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual expenditures to reflect variance from forecasted budgets.
  • Work with organization’s bookkeeper to ensure that expenses are paid in a timely fashion.
  • Provide bookkeeper payroll journals and other requested information to ensure that financial reports are able to be completed in a timely fashion.
  • Receive and review outstanding invoices (A/P).
  • Provide programming support by calendaring and tracking monies due (A/R).
  • Review operating cost and suggest alternative cost saving measures.
  • Ensure systems are in place where staff and contractor’s timesheets can be completed and submitted efficiently(electronically).
  • Ensure payroll is submitted on time to avoid delays and additional costs for processing.
  • Compare payroll journals with submitted timesheets to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide updates to senior management.

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Advance degree in Business Administration or Nonprofit Administration
  • Three years of accounting experience
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to generate and analyze financial statements.
  • Ability to interact with grant-makers, community-based organizations, and other grassroots groups.
  • Thorough working knowledge of spreadsheets software such as Excel.
  • Experience in developing and running effective training workshops and staff development.
  • Budgeting Experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
