True Indigo: Planting Black Resistance in Fashion is a sustainable fashion show, hosted by Black Women for Wellness to highlight the intersection of environmental health, cultural heritage, and social resistance within the fashion industry.
The show will focuse on the rich history of indigo textile dyeing and the importance of centering Afro-Indigenous practices in sustainable fashion.
It aims to address the disproportionate harm caused to Black women by plastics and toxic chemicals found in synthetic dyes and plastic-based clothing. The event showcases clothing that is culturally rooted and environmentally conscious.
