Ruth “Cookie” Mayfield serves as a Community Outreach Worker at Black Women for Wellness.

She is a compassionate advocate, mentor, and community leader dedicated to uplifting women, individuals in recovery, and those reentering society after incarceration. For more than two decades, she has used her personal journey through addiction and incarceration to inspire hope and guide others toward healing and stability.

Through her work, Ruth connects underserved communities with vital resources and support, helping women rebuild their lives and reclaim their purpose. Known for her warmth, humility, and unwavering commitment, she continues to touch lives across California.

As a mother, sister, grandmother, and “Fierce Auntie” to many, Ruth leads with love and reminds others that redemption and growth are always possible.
