MARYAMA BALDE
Stop The Hate Program Coordinator
Maryama Balde is currently serving as the Stop The Hate Program Coordinator for Black Women For Wellness’ Sisters in Motion. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Maryama comes from a strong background in social justice and student organizing.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies with a focus on labor movements and gender-based violence at UCLA, she is also currently a postgraduate researcher for UCLA’s Stop The Hate Initiative.
In her free time, she is active in the housing justice movement in LA, the fight to end sex trafficking in the Pacific Rim, and student anti-imperialism coalitions. Rooted in the Black Feminist Tradition, her work aims to improve the material conditions of women through reproductive, labor, and housing justice.
