DR. MAGAELA BETHUNE
Governing Board Member
Dr. Magaela Bethune is a community psychologist, author, and Assistant Professor of African American Studies at Loyola Marymount University. Her research examines the development of Black youth across various media, family, and community contexts, with a focus on identity and empowerment.
A 13-year breast cancer survivor, mother, and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women – LA, she embodies resilience and advocacy.
Dr. Bethune brings deep expertise in community-engaged research, nonprofit management, and health equity to her board service.
