CAMILLE SAMUELS
Environmental Justice Fellow
Camille A. Samuels has joined Black Women for Wellness as a part of the inaugural Environmental Justice Fellowship.
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Camille received her Bachelors in Health, Science, and Societies from Haverford College before moving to California for a PhD program in Anthropology at the University of California, Irvine. Entering her fourth year of the PhD, she has received numerous fellowships and awards for her research on Black-led food justice in South Los Angeles from the National Science Foundation, The Blue Sky Funders Forum, and UC Irvine Center for Liberation, Anti-Racism, and Belonging.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Camille has collaborated with several community based non-profit organizations in South LA to support health equity, foster community resilience, and preserve knowledge of local history.
