Community Baby Shower
May 31 @ 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM PDT
Date & time: May 31st, 2024 / 3:30 to 7:00 PM
Address: 1320 E. 11th Street, Stockton CA 95206
Greetings partners and community members of The Black Birth Equity Initiative.
We are excited to bring you a series of Community baby showers sponsored by Health Plan of San Joaquin and in partnership with Reinvent South Stockton Coalition and our PEI Community Partners.
Our community baby showers will be a series of 4 regional baby showers located strategically within the at risk census tracts of the highest Black infant and maternal mortality and morbidity rates. These census tracts also show lack of access to quality care and support.
Our key objectives are to:
1. Connect birthing families to local and regional resources.
2. Educate on topics that impact maternal and infant health and birth outcomes.
3. Increase diverse recruitment in the CHW’s and Doula workforce.
4. Create awareness around the issues affecting Black birthing people, families, and advocacy.
5. Hear 5 minute power talks from key stakeholders.
Prizes and games will support the birthing community!
All guests and participants must pre-register for each event! Diapers and baby supplies will be given free after participating in a pre and post short self assessment survey. We will have a live podcast to give participants a chance to share their birthing experience, pregnancy journey, or an opportunity to amplify their voice.
We are encouraging everyone to please share this flyer and email with your staff and networks as well as families expecting or have just given birth!
Our community Baby Showers are a Call to Action to all supporters and community based organizations. Learn more about the Countywide strategic planning around Black Maternal & Infant Health! Discover how you can partner & get involved in the work!
Lastly, 3 grand prize winners will be awarded a photo shoot of their choice and will be featured in the Reinvent South Stockton Black Birth Equity Initiative 2025 calendar. This calendar will support our awareness campaign on the maternal and infant mortality rates in San Joaquin County.
Please see the attached flyer for our first Baby Shower that will be held at the Sierra Vista Community Room in South Stockton.
